Keeping Hair Moisturized

Most black women know that you have to sleep with a scarf on your head, but did you know that it's purpose is for more then just keeping your fingerwaves intact? (haha, I kid. who gets fingerwaves anymore.....right??!)

The scarf also serves to keep the moisture in your hair strands. Especially when you are sleeping because those cotton pillowcases, they draw whatever moisture thats in your hair right out. Cotton like materials do this to your hair period.. This is probably the most important piece of information for yoiur hair. No matter how much you moisturize, if you're using a cotton scarf, sleeping without a scarf on cotton pillowcases, or wearing cotton hats on a regular basis, you will continue to have DRY hair. And ladies, dry hair means breakage and split ends. We definitely can't have that.

So, that cotton bandana you wear to bed? Get rid of it! Those hats you're going to be wearing this winter? Line them with satin or silk material (Fun sunday night Do-it-Yourself project!!) Whether you are relaxed or natural, your hair needs to stay moisturized in order to prevent breakage and split ends

Satin and silk do not absorb moisture and therefore will prevent your hair from drying out and splitting. Invest in silk or satin bonnets, scarfs....and if you're the type who wake up in the morning with your scarf no longer on your head, invest in satin pillowcases. This way you don't have to cover your hair at all. Also, its a good idea to just throw on your scarf when you're lounging around the house, keep as much moisture as possible in those strands

Ok! Thanks for reading!
